Prep for your audition with this workshop!

What? Middle School Audition Prep Workshop (ages 11–14)
When? April 25th 6:00 pm
Where? Be Exceptional, 1265 Dainty Avenue, Brentwood
Price? $20 for 1 | $30 for 2 (if you bring a friend who has not been to our audition prep classes before!) Cash or check paid toward DPAA.
Why? This workshop will give your child an opportunity to get feedback on their audition material. They will also learn great advice for auditions in general!
What should they bring? Ideally, we’d like them to prepare their audition song and monologue before they come. Audition songs are usually 32 bars or about 1 minute of a song. For monologues, usually theater companies will supply monologues, but you can find great free monologues online too! This does NOT have to be for DPAA auditioners only. They can bring any audition material and we can give them feedback for whatever they are auditioning for. If they just want to come and learn, and not perform, that is also an option! They will still get a lot of information even if they don't have their audition material prepared.
How do I secure a spot? Please click on the google form to reserve your child's spot for the workshop.  An email will be sent to you before the workshop to confirm your child's spot.

Audition Prep Details

  • You will need to prepare 1–2 minutes of a song that best fits your voice and highlights your talent. Ideally, we'd like you to pick a song from Lightning Thief, but if you must pick a song outside of the show, it MUST be a musical theater song. You MUST have a karaoke/instrumental track that you have prepared the day of auditions on your personal phone.

You do not HAVE to memorize your song, but this definitely helps when casting and deciding on characters! What's most important is you show up and try your best!

  • Please click on this link for monologue options. Please make sure to save this document to your phone or print them out.
